Partner Supported Caesarean

Partner-Supported Caesarean

What Makes Our Partner-Supported Caesarean Special?

  • Your Partner Can Be Present in the OT – Unlike traditional hospital settings, we encourage your partner to stay by your side during the caesarean to provide emotional reassurance.
  • Midwife Support – Your primary midwife will be with you throughout the surgery to help you feel calm and informed.
  • Gentle Caesarean Approach – We incorporate delayed cord clamping, immediate skin-to-skin contact, and a peaceful environment whenever possible.
  • Minimal Separation  – We try to keep baby as close to you as possible, reducing stress and promoting bonding.
  • Comfortable Recovery Space – After surgery, you will recover in a private family room, where your partner can stay with you.

What to Expect During a Partner-Supported Caesarean

Before Surgery:
  • Your midwife and OB will explain the procedure and answer any questions.
  • Your partner (or nominated support person) will be guided on their role in the operating theatre.
  • We will ensure a calm, respectful birth environment to help you feel at ease.
During Surgery:
  • Your partner and midwife will be by your side for reassurance.
  • The OB team will perform the caesarean with precision and care.
  • Whenever possible, skin-to-skin contact and delayed cord clamping will be practiced.
After Surgery:
    • You will be moved to the recovery area where you, your baby, and your partner can stay together.
    • Once stable, you will be transferred to a private family room with a comfortable bed and space for your partner.
    • You will receive round-the-clock care from our dedicated team of midwives, nurses, and doctors.

We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and family-friendly birth experience, even in cases where a caesarean section becomes necessary. While our primary focus is on natural births, we understand that birth can be unpredictable. That’s why we have an on-site operating theatre and a team of obstetricians (OBs) ready to assist if a caesarean is required.

Our Partner-Supported Caesarean approach allows your partner or a nominated support person to be present with you during the surgery, ensuring emotional comfort and a calm, empowering birth experience. Your primary midwife, with whom you have built a trusted relationship during pregnancy, will also be there to guide and support you.
